Saturday, July 10

Chess Club (online): 1-3 p.m.Learn how to play chess and understand most fundamental chess principles with Nolan DeMott. You'll learn the rules of the game (i.e. how different pieces move), basic rule nuances such as castling, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate,proper piece development (i.e. minor pieces before major pieces), piece values, controlling the center, undefended pieces, trading when ahead and basic tactical ideas (i.e. pins, skewers, forks). Puzzles and live games will be played; all levels welcome. For grades five and up; registration required.

Monday, July 12

Music & Movement on the Green (choose one time): 10:30-11 a.m. OR 11:15-11:45 a.m. Join award winning children'ssinger/songwriter Carrie Rowan on Gazebo Green for an outdoor session of music & movement with your little, budding musicians. Caregivers with children of all ages are welcome to come with a blanket/chairs and spread out on the grass.

No registration required. In the event of rain, Music & Movement will be cancelled.

Doodle Club - IN PERSON: 10:30-11:30 a.m.Join Bri at the picnic tables at Town Hall for some low-key doodling.Bri will teach the group a new doodle-y type drawing exercise, then we'll all spend some time playing around with it.Optional show and tell at the end.

No drawing skills are required. Bri will provide paper, pencils, pens, and colored pencils -- or bring your own.

Tuesday July 13

Virtual Dungeons & Dragons - Session 1: 4-6 p.m.D&D is themostfun played in person with some pizza, but for now well settle for playing virtually. Join us for a Dungeons and Dragons online game...for now were playing via Zoom, so all you need is internet, a webcam, a microphone and Zoom. We also recommend having paper and pencil or some other method of taking notes on your character. We are providing the story and set up, all you need is your imagination. Beginners are welcome. Never played a role playing game before? We can help set up character sheets to get you started.

GBTQIA+ Youth Summer Workshop Series: 7-8 p.m.Medfield Public Library is joining forces with some awesome local and statewide organizations to bring you weekly workshops, book clubs, eventsand art collaborations. If you are an LGBTQIA+ identified youth or ally between the ages of 8-18, join us for some excitement bothvirtuallyandin-person. Tuesdays through Aug. 31. Registration is free.

New England Disaster Preparedness: 7-8 p.m.Join local Federal Emergency Manager Sam Harvey to learn about New England disaster preparedness, including extra precautions to take during a pandemic. A question-and-answer session will follow the talk.

Virtual Craft Class for Adults: 7-8 p.m.Join us on Zoom to make adorable pom-pom ice cream cones in any size you want. Make one and attach it to a hostess gift, or make a bunch and string them up to decorate your own summer BBQ.

You will need ice cream colored yarn, brown paper (an old grocery bag is perfect), hot glue, scissors, and a pencil. If you want to add a cherry, you'll want red yarn, felt, or a pre-made craft puff.

Virtual Rhyme Time Storytime (register for general Zoom Link): 10-10:30 a.m.Join us at home with your little ones for storytime on Zoom. Enjoy a half-hour of songs, finger-plays and stories that are perfect for babies & toddlers with their caregivers. This program is designed for children age0-3 with a caregiver, but all children are welcome to attend.

Knitting Clinic & Club - IN PERSON: 3:30-5:30 p.m.Adult knitters of all skill levels are invited to join our amazing knitting teacher, Cindy, outside at the picnic tables by the Gazebo. Cindy is available to help you with your personal knitting project, or just to hang out and knit with you! Drop by anytime or stay the whole two hours.
