Terry Winston Wilson, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Diane Ritter Wilson for 51 years.

Born on May 13, 1945, in Gray, Ky., he was the son of the late Archie Raymond Wilson and Clara Dozier Wilson Eslinger.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory four children, Kevin W. Wilson and his partner, Megan Silby, of Big Island, Kim A. Geier and husband, Bill, and Katie C. Wilson, all of Lynchburg, and Danny J. Wilson and wife, Liz, of Mooresville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Andrew DePhillips and wife, Kelly, of Henrico, Sidney Wilson, Nick Wilson, Will Geier and Joshua Geier, all of Lynchburg, and Huck Wilson of Mooresville, N.C.

Terry was a loving father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with over 30 years of service. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and his Master's Degree from the University of Virginia.

Terry was a retired school teacher with the Lynchburg City Schools having taught for 30 years at Linkhorne Middle School, a short time at Pride Center and 7 years at Dunbar Middle School. He was well known for the puns and word plays he used in his classroom. He also taught at Governor's School at University of Lynchburg and CVCC. He was a longtime faithful member of Peakland United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities. He was a member of the Lynchburg Retired Teachers Association, Gem and Mineral Society, a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed Genealogy, Astronomy, Geology, brain teasers and puzzles, chess, reading, Senior Putt-Putt golf and traveling with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A Celebration of Terry's life will be announced at a later date.
