Grandmaster Wesley So (@GMWSO) of the United States won his fourth match, 18-10, against 16-year-old Nodirbek Abdusattrov (@ChessWarrior7197) of Uzbekistan in the 2020 Speed Chess Championship Main Event.

So qualified for the next match in the tournament played live online via Chess.com.

So was playing from Minnesota while Abdusattrov was playing from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

So won all three first games before drawing his fourth then prevailed again. Abdusattrov came close, bringing the score to 5.5 to 4.5 with So leading. But So bounced back by winning five straight games.

So displayed his mastery in the bullet game with brilliant openings though the young Uzbek did give him some trouble.

So won $3,285.71 while Abdusattrov took home $714.29.

The Philippine-born woodpusher will play the winner between GMs Fabiano Caruana and Ian-Krzysztof Duda.

Sixteen players are competing in the tournament that ends on December 13.

Each round has 90 minutes of 5+1 blitz, 60 minutes of 3+1 blitz, and 30 minutes of 1+1 bullet.

Only the best grandmasters gained entry into the tilt that offers a $100,000 total prize.

So is fresh from ruling the 2020 US Chess Championship with a top purse of $40,000. JIM PILAPIL
